Abstract: This MSc thesis analyses the impact of temperature anomalies in the Caribbean region (SSTC) on the hydrology of the Artibonite river and on the performance of the water resources system including planned irrigation and hydropower projects. The method relies on hydroeconomic modelling and scenario analysis. The water resources system of the Artibonite River is optimized for two decision-making scenarios : with or without SSTC-based management decisions. Comparing the economic performance of the water resources system for these two scenario reveals the utility of this hydro-climate information. The results show that while the inflows of the basin are linearly dependent on these anomalies, the intensity of the relationship is insufficient to influence the decisions and hence improves the performance of the system, whether in dry, normal or wet year.
