Considération du temps de collecte dans les mesures d'accès aux sources d'approvisionnement en eau potable dans les pays en voie de développement

|Abstract:||Although it is recognized as a human right by the United Nations, a lack of access to safe drinking water still remains widespread worldwide. Despite its importance, an estimated 42.5% of the world’s population did not have access to an improved drinking water source on premises in 2015. However, the indicator currently used to monitor the global picture of access measured the proportion of the population with access to drinking water as 91%. This statistic is based on the type of source used by households, but does not consider the location nor the quality of the source. The objective of this study is to provide a rigorous picture of drinking water access conditions and inequalities currently observed in developing countries. By considering time required to reach a water source from its point of use, it is possible to determine the potential access for a sufficient amount of drinking water. The impact of water fetching collection time for 27 developing countries is determined through data analysis of household surveys from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS).|
