|Abstract:||Site-specific weed management using real time detection can reduce herbicide use. At present, this technology is not able to discriminate weeds and crop plants with enough precision and speed to be implemented. However, in corn and soybean, the inter-row, where there is no crop, could be use to detect weeds. The goal of this research is to determine if weed cover, biomass and density on rows and interrows are equivalent after different disturbances. Tested disturbances included planter, tractor wheel, press wheel and tooth. In corn, there are fewer weeds in the undisturbed inter-row than on the row while the opposite is observed in soybean. The undisturbed inter-row in soybean and the tracked interrow in corn could be used to detect weeds without underestimating weed cover.|
