The role of ICTS in the tunisian and egyptian protest movements : a literature review
Abstract: ICT has made signifcant changes at the state and population in recent years. Indeed, the media have played a role considered crucial in the social and political changes in some countries. Citizens, organizations, unions have with these new technologies to communicate, coordinate, mobilize and express their views, opinions, positions and denounce the injustices they face. Our paper presents a literature review on the role of social media during the events of the Arab Spring, especially in Tunisia and Egypt where the use of these new technologies was abundant. A rather critical view was adopted. We begin our article by presenting the communicative aspect of social movements. We will analyze later social movements online, the new forms of activism and see how developed the architecture of the cyber challenge. Then follow the study of Granovetter's model adapted to the events of the Arab spring. Finally, we analyze the role of social media in the uprisings and fnish our article with a rather critical discussion of the various works carried out.
