Résumé
Plusieurs perturbations économiques et climatiques ont affecté les fermes laitières québécoises entre 2000 et 2010. Les incidences de ces bouleversements n’ont toutefois pas été homogènes sur la santé financière des entreprises, comme en témoigne la disparité observée au niveau de leurs résultats financiers. Afin d’obtenir une meilleure compréhension de la présence d’hétérogénéité, le comportement stratégique des producteurs les plus efficaces et les moins efficaces a été évalué à partir de deux séries d’analyses, effectuées sur onze stratégies de gestion. Les résultats ont démontré que les agriculteurs du sous-groupe de tête obtiennent une meilleure marge de sécurité, organisation du travail, productivité laitière et valorisation des fourrages que celles des agriculteurs du sous-groupe de fin, et ce peu importe la situation économique et climatique. Il appert donc que leur structure de production et leur planification stratégique sont plus efficaces économiquement et plus en mesure de contrer les effets négatifs des perturbations.
Many economic and climatic disruptions have influenced the Quebec dairy farms between 2000 and 2010. However, the incidence of these disruptions did not have the same effect on the financial health of the farms, as demonstrated by the disparity shown in their financial results. In order to obtain a better understanding of the presence of heterogeneity, the strategic behavior of the most efficient and the less efficient producers has been evaluated from two series of analysis, performed on eleven management strategies. The results showed that the producers of the head subgroup obtained better security margin, labour organization, dairy productivity and valorization of the fodder than the producers of the tail subgroup, regardless of the economic and climatic situation. It appears then, that their production structure and their strategic planning are more economically efficient and more capable of restraining the negative effects of disruptions.
